Terms and Conditions for Use

Thank you for being part of our community. To ensure the best possible experience for all participating American Physical Therapy Association ("APTA") members, we have established APTA Community Rules: Terms and Conditions for Use.

By joining and using this community, you agree that you have read and will follow these community rules. You also agree to reserve discussions, shared files, and content for those best suited to the medium. This is a great medium with which to seek the advice of your peers, benefit from their experiences, and participate in ongoing conversations.

Please take a moment to acquaint yourself with these important APTA Community Rules: Terms and Conditions for Use. In order to preserve an environment that encourages both civil and fruitful dialogue, APTA reserves the right to suspend any member in this community who violates these rules.

It is important and your responsibility to read the full APTA Community Rules: Terms and Conditions for Use before using the APTA Community.

Questions should be directed to Community Support.

The Rules

  • You alone are responsible for any consequences of any posting. APTA leadership and affiliates are not responsible for comments or material posted by members.
  • Do not post any materials that violate federal or state laws, including but not limited to libel, slander, antitrust, trademark, copyright, patent, or unfair competition.
  • Do not advocate or discuss illegal activity.
  • Be authentic. Do not impersonate anyone or misrepresent who you are.
  • Do not attack others. Let others have their say, just as you may have your say. The discussions on the community platform are meant to encourage conversation, not create conflict. Please extend the benefit of the doubt to all members; there’s no such thing as a stupid question.
  • Respect the purpose of the community. Use it to share successes, challenges, constructive feedback, questions, and goals.
  • Do not post commercial messages, including external job postings, special offers, external job offers, external promotional materials, products for sale, junk mail, spam, chain letters, pyramid schemes, etc.
  • Do not advertise, sell, or solicit others for donations, support, participation, or contributions.
  • Do not post personal identifiable information or personal financial information.
  • Information posted on the discussion groups and in the libraries is available for all to see, and comments are subject to libel, slander, and antitrust, trademark, copyright, and patent applicable laws.
  • Any comments that are defamatory, abusive, profane, threatening, offensive, vulgar, rude, obscene, embarrassing, knowingly false, hateful, bigoted, or racially offensive; any pornographic or illegal materials; and anything that has the potential to cause harm or damage to anyone, as determined by APTA in its sole discretion, are strictly prohibited and will be removed without advance notice.
  • Do not post anything that you would not want anyone to see or that you would not want anyone to know came from you.
  •          Do not post materials that do not pertain to the discussion, topic, or theme of the forum.
  • Respect intellectual property. Post content that you have created or have permission to use from the copyright holder and have properly attributed to the content creator, abiding by the copyright holder’s terms and conditions for use.

Discussion Group Etiquette

  • State concisely and clearly the topic of your comments in the subject line. This allows members to respond more appropriately to your posting and makes it easier for members to search the archives by subject.
  • Send messages such as "thanks for the information" or "I agree" to individuals, not to the entire list. Do this by using the "Reply to Sender" link in every message.
  • Do not send administrative messages, such as “remove me from the list,” to the group. Instead, use My Profile on apta.org to change your settings or to update your notification preferences. If you are changing email addresses, you do not need to remove yourself from the list and rejoin under your new email address. Simply update your APTA profile.
